What is The Gospel?
I. The Universal Problem: WE ARE ALL SINNERS
Every human being is a sinner who falls short of God's Perfect Standard.
Romans 3:23 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."
Exodus 15:11 - “Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, Awesome in praises, working wonders?"
Joshua 24:19 - "Then Joshua said to the people, “You will not be able to serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgression or your sins."
1 Samuel 2:2 - "There is no one holy like the Lord, Indeed, there is no one besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God."
1 Samuel 6:20 - “Who is able to stand before the Lord, this holy God? And to whom shall He go up from us?”
Revelation 4:8 - “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”
Isaiah 64:6 - "For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away."
Ecclesiastes 7:20 - "Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins."
II. The Serious Consequence: SEPERATION FROM GOD
Sin results in eternal separation from God (death).
Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 - "...dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power..."
Isaiah 59:2 - "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear."
III. The Perfect Standard: HEAVEN'S REQUIREMENTS
Only perfect people can enter God's Holy Presence.
Revelation 21:27 - "...and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life."
Isaiah 59:2 - "But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear."
IV. The Impossible Task: WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES
Good works and religious activities cannot earn salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
Romans 4:5 - "But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness."
Romans 11:6 - "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace."
Isaiah 42:8 - “I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images."
Job 21:13-14 - “They spend their days in prosperity, And suddenly they go down to Sheol. They say to God, ‘Depart from us! We do not even desire the knowledge of Your ways."
Romans 3:12 - "All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”

V. The Perfect Solution: CHRIST'S COMPLETE PAYMENT
Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn't live and died the death we deserved.
2 Corinthians 5:21 - "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
Isaiah 53:6 - "All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him."
1 Peter 3:18 - "for Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;"
Romans 4:25 - "He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification."
Romans 1:4 - "who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord..."

VI. The Simple Response: FAITH ALONE
Salvation comes through faith in Christ, not your good works.
John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
John 1:12 - "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name..."
John 6:28-29 - "Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.”

VII. The Blessed Assurance: ETERNAL SECURITY
Those who trust Christ receive eternal life immediately and permanently.
John 6:47 - "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life."
1 John 5:13 - "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life."
VIII. Personal Application: Ask yourself these questions.
1. How does understanding God's Holiness change your perspective on sin?
2. What does it mean to you that salvation is by FAITH ALONE, not works?
3. How can you share this Gospel message with others?
IX. Conclusion
The Gospel is God's COMPLETE PROVISION for salvation through Jesus Christ. It cannot be earned through your good works but must be received by FAITH ALONE. The invitation is to TRUST in what Christ has done for you rather than what we can do.
